On Monday, June 17, 2019, MassDOT will activate the permanent swing gates and electronic signage controlling the swing lane at the Sumner Tunnel Portal where Route 1A enters the tunnel.

The system will automate and enhance the process currently in-place for the deployment of the swing lane to alert motorists to the status of the swing gates as they approach the tunnel.
