Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck Emission Systems (MTAC)

Technicians will learn the theory behind reducing harmful emissions in heavy-duty truck diesel engines as well as the required effective maintenance and troubleshooting skills needed to meet both federal and applicable state emissions testing laws.

Upon completion of the class, technicians will have gained a full understanding of the diesel emission components used on heavy-duty diesel truck engines. Additionally, there will be specific training with an emphasis on the proper maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosis of the following emission systems:

  • Role of Crankcase Emission Control Devices in Reducing Emissions.
  • Use of DEF in Diesel Engine Exhaust Systems to Reduce Emissions.
  • The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system
  • Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
  • Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)
